Jurassic World

Once again Steven Spielberg has returned to grace us with the seemingly long awaited instalment for the incredibly popular series Jurassic Park, this time being remade as Jurassic World. Once again humans think they can over power the dinosaurs and once again they fail and in this case it is against a genetically mutated dinosaur the “Indominus Rex”. Jurassic world sees 13 year olds become mechanical engineers, only one inexperienced pilot able to fly a helicopter and some awkward and blatantly obvious awkward love scenes between characters. The dinosaurs are possible the only cool thing about this movie, making the velociraptors the stars once again the stars of the film.

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2

Splitting the final Harry Potter book into two separate movies was a stroke of genius from the production team. The final movie captures the final books intensity to the key leaving almost nothing out, which seemingly impressed the book lovers out there. The final battle with Voldemort and Harry left viewers sitting on the edge of their seats. With twists and turns at every point this movie made us fall in love with our favourite characters all over again. The final scene skipping forward to 19 years later leaves the audience with a proper closure from one of the most amazing series of all time.

Gogglebox Australia

This show just returned for its second season after mixed reactions to the first. In a nut shell, Gogglebox follows many different kinds of Australian families across the country as they watch popular television programmes of that particular week. Although this concept seems fairly idiotic, it can also be entertaining as you can see how different audiences across Australia view the same programmes that you do. You will find yourself either laughing with them, or laughing at them. Either way it is a nice bit of light entertainment the whole family can enjoy.

Inside out

Inside out is the newest installation from Pixar animation creating a seemingly dark twist on what a children’s movie is supposed to be. Focusing the movie on a young girl ‘Riley’ the story follows her journey of moving from her home town Minnesota to the larger city of San Francisco. Although the story doesn’t follow Riley on the outside but focuses on her emotions Joy, Angry, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and how this transition to a new school, new friends and new family life affects her on the inside. Inside out is a movie that appeals to people of all ages with its cute animations and witty adult humour this is a must see movie of the year.

Friday

Friday is comedy film centred in southern Los Angeles, staring actors Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. The entire movie is set in a single day where the main character Craig gets fired from his job and has nothing to do. Encouraged by his mischievous friend and partner in crime Smokey they have quite a memorable day around their neighbourhood.

This movie is reccomended for mature audiences as it portrays course language, violence  and many drug references. If you're looking for a movie quotes to say with you and your friends this movie will definitely give that to you.

Ocean's Eleven

Ocean's Eleven is a comedy heist movie based in the worlds hub of gambling, Las Vegas, Nevada. Ocean's Eleven starts the ladies man George Clooney playing Daniel Ocean, alongside his team of 10 others as they attempt to pull off a heist on three of Las Vegas' top grossing casinos. This infinitely difficult conquest will provide the highly skilled group with large amounts of struggle, laughs and finally cash once the job is complete. However the job does not end just there.

The Ocean's series is a three parter and is definitely recommended to give it a watch if you have some spare time on your hands.

Weeds

I started watching this show out of boredom and it was available on Netflix. Rated at around 4/5 stars I thought it would be a quality drama. Upon finishing the first season, I discovered that as time went on the more I began to despise the main character, the show lost focus, and was a complete and utter failure in my eyes. However this did not stop me from making it up to season 8 of the series, the story goes completely off the rails and you begin to wonder why you've wasted countless hours of your life to such awfully tailored entertainment. To conclude, this show is definitely a waste of time but can easily become addictive purely because of it's stupidity.

Bob's Burgers

Bob's Burgers is a hilarious adult cartoon full of broken stereotypes and free from discrimination. Unlike most adult cartoons, Bob's Burgers does not rely on cheap racist or sexist humour to get its laughs but rather alternates between witty, sexual and just plain silly jokes. It's centred around quite an average looking family who run their own fairly unsuccessful restaurant and go on all sorts of adventures which always end at one of the characters expense. About to premier its 6th season, Bob's Burgers has not let the quality of it's programme dimish in the slightest. I'd highly recommend this series as a light, bubbly way to relax on a quiet night.

Rick and Morty

Rick and Morty just began their long awaited second season after their great success with the first. The concept is essentially just a grandfather and his grandson going on weird and intergalactic adventures with an often vulgar twist. As an adult cartoon, Rick and Morty does not hold back on the casual swearing, crude references and harsh controversial statements however beyond that the humour is clever and never fails to entertain. I personally love this series since it is not only comedic but also involves intricate plots, a huge number of hilarious minor characters and wacky concepts relating to things like outer space, time travel, cloning etc.

How I Met Your Mother: Review

How I Met Your Mother is a comedy TV series based in New York City. The series primarily based around one man, Ted, whom is narrating the story of how he met his mother to his children. Through this story, he tells his kids of all the many adventures he, and his four best friends, Barney, Marshall, Lilly and Robin had been through over the years of him falling in and out of love before he found the right girl. This TV show would be recommended to younger viewers aged 15-25 who love a good laugh, as it is subject to quite a large amount of  rowdy humour. This series has already come to an end as of 2014, however if you are looking for your next procrastination method and can get your friends to not spoil it for you it is most definitely worth the watch!

Coach Carter, an Inspirational Story

Coach Carter, is a film released in 2005 by director Thomas Carter, staring Samuel L. Jackson. Coach Carter is based on a true story of how a basketball team known as the 'Oilers' representing the not so prestigious Richmond High, high school went from a team of young boys who were barely passing their grades, were engaged in and encouraging street violence and generally making poor life decisions, to a team which went undefeated until the state finals as well as over half the team attending college, when just before the season, none were expected to get past high school. It is a true success story of how young boys from the dangerous, underprivileged city of Richmond turned into grown men, gaining scholarships to some of the best college's in the country.

If you are in need of a motivational push, I highly recommend you give this movie a watch.

Fear the Walking Dead

Fear the Walking Dead premiered a few weeks ago attracting over 10 million viewers in the US alone. As a prequel to the currently on hiatus hit TV drama The Walking Dead, it has been quite a success. The series takes place during the time in which Rick Grimes (one of the main protagonists in The Walking Dead) is in a coma. During this coma, the zombie apocalypse begins as disease and desperation takes over the world. Particularly, the introduction to the show is captivating and intriguing drawing in viewers from the first minute of air time. Fear the Walking Dead doesn't move too fast in terms of death and destruction but rather utilizes the time they've been given to realistically display the slow and steady ruination of society whilst simultaneously remaining dramatic and gruesome.

After airing 2 episodes, the show has left it's millions of viewers on a cliff hanger during a 1 week hiatus which is both frustrating as well as an effective method of keeping their audience hungry for more.
